Manhattan, IL- Manhattan Fire Protection District (MFPD) responded to a fully involved detached outbuilding on the 28700 block of South Elevator Road and 12400 West Eagle Lake Rd at 2:57 PM. No injuries were reported.
Chief 81 was the first unit to arrive on the scene of the reported structure fire at 3:03 PM, followed by MFPD Rescue Engine 82. Upon arrival, firefighters found a detached outbuilding fully involved with a motor vehicle inside the structure. MFPD Rescue Engine 81 & 82 immediately began rural water supply operation. Multiple hand lines were stretched to gain fire suppression. Firefighters were able to gain fire control within 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The incident was escalated to the full still response. Mutual aid was provided by New Lenox Fire Protection District, Frankfort Fire Protection District, Wilmington Fire Protection District, Manteno Fire Protection District, Monee Fire Protection District, Coal City Fire Protection District, Bradley Fire Protection District, Homer Fire Protection District, Peotone Fire Protection District, Lockport Fire Protection District, and Mokena Fire Protection District. |
