(April 13, 2023) Peotone, IL - At approximately 11:58 AM, the Manhattan Fire Protection District (MFPD) was dispatched to a reported fully engulfed pickup truck with fire spreading to the residential structure located on the 10200 block of West Barr Road in Peotone.

The first units arrived on the scene within seven minutes of the initial call for service. Fire crews reported moderate smoke and flames showing from a fully engulfed engine of a pickup truck parked in the driveway of a medium-sized two-story residential structure. The fire from the pickup truck was communicating to the attached garage. A full still was activated for additional personnel and equipment. The fire spread to the attached garage but was controlled before reaching the attic of the garage or into the house. Within ten minutes of first arrival, the fire was contained and extinguished.

One person was reported to have been inside the structure upon arrival. All occupants safely evacuated the building, and no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by MABAS 19 Investigators.
