|Board of Trustees Appoint New Commissioner; Bids Farewell to Commissioner Bob Berg|

MANHATTAN, IL – The Manhattan Fire Protection District (MFPD) appointed a new member to the Board of Commissioners during the Trustees meeting on Monday.
Gerald Kinsella formally served the Manhattan Fire Protection District as a Captain and a dedicated member to the Fire District.
“For 37 years, Jerry Kinsella worked proudly alongside the men and women of MFPD. He is known as a well-respected and driven leader in our organization,” stated Fire Chief Steve Malone. “Jerry has a passion for the fire service and our community. His knowledge of our department’s history and growth align with our vision for the future of this Department—one that provides the highest level of service to all of our residents.”
MFPD Board of Trustee’s appointed Jerry Kinsella following the leave of Commissioner Robert Berg.
“Commissioner Berg was instrumental in the hiring process when the Fire District began to move forward with hiring full-time firefighters,” stated Board of Trustees President, William Moncrief. “His dedication to hiring the best qualified firefighter-paramedics is tribute to the quality care and service we provide. We truly appreciate his years of service to MFPD.”
Berg was one of the original members sworn-in to the Board of Commissioners. Along with Commissioners Jim Swyndro and Bob Herrick, Berg served on the Board of Commissioners for 13 years.
